"Sand Unity" - Henry & Elsa (12 Jun 2008)

Ciek & Aise, that's how we address them :) Handsome & Beautiful, that's how we describe them :) Even the live-band singers couldn't stop adoring them and didn't hesitate to say it out loud.

They are one of my first signing-up clients. We were already friends way back in Sutomo 1. They were my juniors. Ciek used to come play at our apartment back in Melbourne. They are a perfect innerly & outerly beautiful couple. I love working with both of them so much. Not only are they beautiful clients, they are also beautiful friends :)

They gave me the honour to plan their weddings, even without having met face-to-face. This was back in December, only a few days after I launched my 'soft opening' (haha) through Friendster. I can't thank you guys enough for the trust. It's my luck to have such a wonderful couple like you guys. Thank you much :)

OK. Now let's switch to S.L.I.M mode (Say.Less.Image.More)...

'SAND UNITY'

The 'sand unity' ceremony has a very strong relation to beach weddings.
It symbolizes the unity of two different lives into one.

Sorry I made you guys go back to your exact R.O.M spot at Mentone beach just to 'steal' 5 kgs of the sand.
Please don't mention my name when you get caught for VANDALISM!

THE 'CIAP SIN NIO!!!!!'

Pasukan Pendobrak Pintu!!!

Pasukan Penghadang Pintu!!!

A very happy groomsman, about to sing...

'Tui Mien Te Ni Hai Khan Kuo Lai, Khan Kuo Lai, Khan Kuo Lai... La La La La La La ....'

Ciek desperately calling out, "Aise, chut lai liau lahhh..."

"HA HA HA..."

THE RECEPTION

The reception was held at the famous Wisma Benteng, Medan's popular wedding reception venue. I heard it was fully booked for the whole December month (the one whole month!)

THE AMBIENCE

They were married back in 11 Nov 2007, at Mentone Beach, Melbourne. We decided on a beach-themed wedding but didn't want it to look too cheesy like other beach-themed weddings normally do. We decided to take only the 'elements' of sea and somehow modify them into a beautiful stage setting.

The balloons represent sea water bubbles and we had seaweeds transformed into an abstract piece of foam-carving.

The pillars were topped with an aquarium-like vase, decorated with seasand, seashells and blue hydrangea flowers.

A matching wedding cake, with bubbly balls too :)

Yayyy!!! Matching favours too... Sea-inspired jelly candles
(A very useful favour for Medan people, especially for people with no gensets!)

THE MOMENTS

WALKING THE AISLE

Bridesmaids getting ready...
Cute bride, cute bridesmaids. Wat more could you ask for?

Walking the aisle with bubbles personally blown into the air by bridesmaids & groomsmen. They walked in to the tunes of the legendary 'Moon River', live by the acoustic band. A very beautiful piece to go with the ambience.

'Sand Unity' ceremony with bubbles from bridesmaids & groomsmen.

THE SURPRISE 'LOVE STORY' from Aise

A special surprise from the bride, a photoclip of their love journey personally created by the bride herself.
(He's one very lucky man, ain't he?)

touched by the surprise...

'thanx dear. i'm speechless. i love you'

THE DUET

He went to me, "Sien, wa be ki ie lirik liau. Wa cin2 be ki liau. Si loh".
Hence, this picture (Ciek listening to the real song from the CD player. We're lucky I had a copy ready in hand)

'I'm thankful everyday... for The Gift'

(Hoorayyy!!! He got it all right!)

THE FIRST DANCE

Due to time constraint, we had only three very very short dance classes. They were done at my mini TV-room. Really inadequate. But lucky me they were very smart people with 1 left & 1 right feet (each). They nailed it down exquisitely.

'Thank you... for loving me' - by Bon Jovi

THE TEARS OF HAPPINESS

Saying graces to mum&dad... with tears rolling down her cheeks

She's so beautiful even with tears...
Ciek, I'm sure you know what an angel you married right?

SPECIAL CONTRIBUTIONS BY SPECIAL FRIENDS

Ciek's fighting for the mic. He's the one who's paying for everything afterall.

'Well done, guys'

THE BOUQUET THROWING...!!!

Who's the lucky next?

It's the curry fish!!! Let's hope the fish has a beautiful wedding too over in Heaven.

Oh Wait!!! Ciek's dad snatched the bouquet from the poor curry fish!!!

It's quite unrealistic to send the bouquet to Heaven (since the fish had already left). So they decided on giving real women the chance. And the lucky 'real' girl's our own sweet bridesmaid, Eny!!! Though she had to have her body splashed with the luck-charm curry.

THE SIMPLY 'CUTE'S!

Faces of "I do"

It's 4:22 am in the morning. I can't sleep! (cerita lama liau) Insomnia's hitting... And since I'm so into the mood of blogging, I got out of bed, back to my laptop, and back to blogging (which I've been doing for the last 4 hours or so).

I feel like writing... on the people behind the "I do" scenes. My good and amiable friends in life & at work. They are the people who make this job so lovable. Having them around during the weddings really relieves all the stress. I owe them a lot. Hope you guys will never get sick of this, coz I'll surely never get sick of having you guys around :)

So, shall I introduce...

KUSDI HARYONO, B.A, M.B.A

'I've known this guy for 14 years. He's my hubby's bestest friend. Been through a lot of goods and bads with him. He's changed a lot during the last few years, being a good dad & husband & all. But 1 thing he hasn't ever changed is the way he always offers his hands and ears to people who need them. He's everyone's 'curhat'-must-go place hahaha...'

Here is a picture of Kusdi's cutest daughter and son :) Lucky kids and lucky father :)

ROSEWATY HALIM, B.Design

'I've known Rose since high school, been flatmates with her for years at 6/22 Murphy St, South Yarra , Melbourne. Very memorable years, especially the Mie Kangkung Belacan, surely memorable haha. (Kapan lagi Rose? Kangen liau ar haha). Everyone who knows her & who've seen her works must agree with the statement I quoted above. They'd also agree that a guy who's held her heart must be a very lucky guy. So J*****, take good care of this precious gem, you don't wanna lose her'

'a very dependable organizer, comfy-to-be-with, meticulous friend'

'I've known this girl since my 1st year in Melbourne, around 9 years ago (Wah ga terasa hoh Ul). Everyone calls her 'A Ul'. People love being around her as she is very comfy to be with. You can talk to her about everything, especially Korean Drama!!! Haha .She's my encyclopedia for Korean movies, & actors too of course. If you open her bag, you'll see all her stuffs are so well-organized that you'll be 'phai-seh' to show her yours. She's like a live PDA. She cares most about her parents. Before she goes away on holidays (she travels a lot, lucky her), she'll arrange all her dad's medicine-box for the whole period she'll be away, so he won't miss his medications. Every parent would wish for a daughter as thoughtful as she is'

WEN2, "I do"'s Energizer Bunny
Zodiac: Scorpio
Career: Food Development & Technology
Hobby: Sports, Food & Traveling
Friendster: http://profiles.friendster.com/3750309
'a very enthusiastic, energetic, friendly, helpful, cheerful, independent girl'

'My best friend's sister, who quickly became a very good friend of mine too. (Most probably because of the food samples she always gave me to try haha). She's a genius, hardworking & independent food person. Well I'm a food person too. The difference is I EAT the food, she MAKES the food (you see why she's a 'good' friend?) j/k wen :P When you are around her, you'll hear a lot of HAHAHA's around, since she laughs pretty much all the time. People who know her will surely love her personality. You only need 1 second to feel safe & comfy with her. A very understanding friend also. She's much younger than I am, but she's much more grown up than a lot of people my age.'

Just wanna let you guys know that you all mean a lot to "I do". Without you guys, it wouldn't be as fun as it has always been. Thank you. Mwahx mwahx.....

"Sunset in Bali..." (Tony&Yenny - 17 May 08)

OK. My first row of weddings (I call them the ‘mid-year’ row hohoho), has now become memories. Good memories, I should say. Here are the recaps of some of the weddings. (I can’t do full recaps for all yet, due to some delays from the vendors *sighs... and it would be boring to write the stories without visuals.

(Photos submitted below are courtesy of Tony & Yenny, contributions of Tahbar Junus Photography, unless stated otherwise)

Now.. here goes………

The first lucky couple is Tony & Yenny… They rang me 2 months before the wedding (One of the nekad-est couples in my diary). They approached me with venue, bridal and prewedding photography already booked. When they told me the venue’s the new Lembur Kuring, I instantly thought of this beautiful wedding theme I’ve always wanted to execute, the very popular Bali. So we decided on "Sunset in Bali" theme. I've always taken Lembur Kuring as the most suitable venue for this theme. So we gave it a go straightaway.

THE AMBIENCE

It’s an outdoor setting. We built a huge stage on the center of the romantic roofless lawn, with personally customized Balinese Pura gateways at all 4 sides of the stage, enhanced with exquisite sunset-inspired lighting.

I love it :) Everyone seeing the setting was instantly awed by the ambience created…

THE ENTRANCE

The entrance was preceded with a videoclip summarizing the morning wedding ceremony, which showed a ‘door crashing game’, where the groomsmen were asked to sing a song wearing personalized underwears, prepared by bride’s very adorable sister, Solita.

"Yenny, I love youuuuuuu"

After the videoclip, we had the classic "Wedding March" music at the background while the couple entered the venue at around 8 pm, through the main security gate of Lembur Kuring, with groomsmen Jimmy & Herry as the exclusive driver & doorman. They halted right in front of the steps to the dining area, welcomed by flower petals sprinkled by their best friends, as the bridesmaids & groomsmen. Walking the aisle, they were led with a very beautiful music arrangement, "Baju Pengantin" from Erwin Gutawa.

THE WEDDING CAKE

THE "SEMPURNA" SURPRISE

As claimed by Tony, this is his 'premiere' public singing show ever, "Wa ku ca SMA, wa si kambuan leng hun daripada chio kua er ar. Itu Ernawaty cia lo wa e ar..." (For those of u who might've forgotten, Ernawaty's our high-school Music teacher).

But here, on their wedding day, Tony's summed up all courage to stand up and surprise Yenny with a very beautiful song by Andra & The Backbone, "Sempurna". You could see the happiness reflected on Yenny's lovely face :) A very "sempurna" moment.

" Kau adalah darahku, Kau adalah jantungku, Kau adalah hidupku
Lengkapi diriku, Oh sayangku, kau begitu
Sempurna... Sempurna... "

THE SWEET BITS & PIECES

Solita, adorable sister of the bride :)

Lovely 'pesan&kesan' for her bride sister... She's just so cute, isn't she?

The Groomsmen actually cornered Yenny, "Tony masih harus boleh keluar malam-malam ya?" hahaha
